Retro-fitting normally costs around $25 per square
meter – so for the average 100 square metre home
– this equates to $2,500. However, through the Healthy
Homes project, ALL homes can apply for a government
subsidy of 25 percent being offered by EECA – the
Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority by
contacting Better Homes.
However, subsidies up to 100% are available
depending on:
- The house being built before 1978
- The income circumstances of the home owner
- Eligibility for a community services card
- Health status of the occupants
- Availability of funding in the home’s area
(e.g. from TET)
